RI launches statewide nursing residency program

PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island has launched a statewide program to provide additional clinical training for new and unemployed nurses.

The Rhode Island Action Coalition for the Future of Nursing and several partners from the public and private sectors announced the initiative on Wednesday.

Under the program, graduates from the state’s nursing programs or unemployed nurses will be placed in nursing homes, community clinics and hospitals for residencies lasting up to nine months. Each will receive a stipend.
